Nominations for Liverpool Art Prize 2013, the annual competition for artists born or based in the Liverpool city region, come to a close on Friday 21 December.

The Prize was founded in 2008 by ArtinLiverpool.com and is administered and managed by Metal at Edge Hill Station. The winning artist will receive £2,000 and be invited to present a solo exhibition at The Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool. A £1,000 People’s Choice award is also up for grabs.

The 2012 winner was installation artist and film-maker Robyn Woolston whose work ‘Last’, featuring a dead silver birch tree, a neon sign and a sea of plastic cutlery, made a strong statement about man’s treatment of the natural environment. The People’s Choice award went to street artist Tomo. Previous winners include Markus Soukup, David Jacques, AL and AL, and Imogen Stidworthy.

The panel of judges for 2013 is artist and writer Tim Etchells, Artistic Director of the Liverpool Biennial Sally Tallant, Liverpool Daily Post Arts Editor Laura Davis and Robyn Woolston. They will select a shortlist of four artists to present an exhibition at Metal next year.

Make your nomination before Friday 21 December (and check who’s already been nominated).
