Former Head of Creative Enterprise at the Bluecoat Emma Smith has been appointed Executive Director of LOOK Liverpool International Photography Festival. In this new role, Smith will oversee the delivery of next year’s festival event, LOOK/15, and develop a year-round programme of activities that promote and support photographic practice in Liverpool and the wider North West.
Smith stated: “I am incredibly honoured and wholly excited to have the opportunity to work with artists – locally and globally – and our city’s world-class arts and knowledge organisations to develop a thought-leading, international festival that Liverpool can be proud of.”
LOOK launched its biennial festival in 2007, following a season of events, exhibitions, workshops and web activity initiated by Redeye, the photography network in Manchester. In its three editions the festival has presented works by nationally and internationally acclaimed photographers including: Edmund Clark, Ken Grant, Eva Stenram, The Caravan Gallery and Paul Trevor.
“We are an ambitious festival,” Smith added, “and look forward to demonstrating this with LOOK/15”.
