Three high-profile British artists have been announced as the selectors for this year’s New Contemporaries exhibition, which since 1949 has been showcasing new artists from UK art schools.

The selectors of the show, which is open to final-year undergraduates, postgraduates and artists one year out of postgraduate study in the UK, are: Anya GallaccioAlan Kane and Haroon Mirza.

New Contemporaries director Kirsty Ogg said that she was “delighted to announce this year’s selectors” and that each of the artists “continue to influence the cultural landscape, nationally and internationally”.

She added: “Everything we do reflects our core mission: to support emergent art practice from British art schools. We achieve this by facilitating extraordinary experiences through an inspiring programme of exhibitions, events, and professional development opportunities.”

The deadline for submissions to this year’s New Contemporaries show is 17 January. Works for the exhibition are viewed anonymously and the selected artists will be announced in April. The 2016 show is part of Liverpool Biennial and will run from 9 July to 27 November at Bluecoat gallery
