Tara Donovan, Jupiter Artland, Edinburgh
Sculpture doesn’t come more dramatic than the latest installation at Jupiter Artland, presented as part of this year’s Edinburgh Arts Festival exhibitions programme. Constructed from over 500,000 drinking cups, Donovan’s work is drawn from topographical images, with the result being a graphic representation of land surface in a rolling, wandering form.

Takehisa Kosugi, Ikon, Birmingham
A pioneer of experimental music in Japan in the early 1960s, Kosugi is also associated with the Fluxus movement. Here he presents three sound installations, including one made especially for Ikon. Combining everyday materials and radio electronics, the work makes use of wind, electricity and light to explore the sonic relationships between objects.

Ten, Vane, Newcastle upon Tyne
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of Vane opening, the gallery presents works by 19 artists who have previously shown at the space. Featuring painting, drawing, sculpture and video, the international lineup is drawn from the UK, Germany, Denmark, Iceland, South Africa and the USA.

This intriguing show features emails, letters, photographs, video diaries, films, and other correspondence between the London based artist Pierrick Mouton and the French-Cameroonian Protestant nun Sister Germaine, sent over a five year period.

Zarina Bhimji, New Art Exchange, Nottingham
This immersive film and sound installation by former Turner Prize nominee Zarina Bhimji explores the political consciousness of specific moments in history. Filmed in Kenya, the piece is an enquiry into image, light, object, the literal and the abstract.
