Philip-Lorca diCorcia, The Hepworth, Wakefield
This large-scale survey of American photographer Philip-Lorca diCorcia features over 100 photographs from six major series spanning the last 40 years. Included are his controversial portraits of male prostitutes in Hustlers (1990–92), and the series Lucky 13 (2004), showing naked and dramatically-lit pole dancers. The first major show of his photographs in the UK, the exhibition situates his work within historical debates around the status of truthfulness that is often ascribed to the photographic image.
