Spanish artist and activist Joan Fontcuberta’s installations merge the visual language of journalism, advertising, museum displays and scientific journals. In a show that mixes fact with fiction and science with art, all is not quite as it seems.

Celebrate the renowned British sculptor Phillip King‘s 80th birthday with this special selection of work made in the 1960s. Highlights include Genghis Khan from 1963 and Rosebud, King’s first coloured sculpture using fibreglass made in 1962 and loaned from a private collection.

Beauty and Revolution: The poetry and art of Ian Hamilton Finlay, Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge
This exhibition traces Scottish poet Ian Hamilton Finlay‘s (1925-2006) artistic development, culminating in the images and texts that marked his engagement with the French Revolution. Featuring prints, cards, emblems and inscriptions.

Mary Griffiths: Still Further, Bureau, Manchester
Manchester-based artist Mary Griffiths presents her new larger-scale works that make use of plywood, wooden board, and linoleum as surfaces to inscribe abstract drawings into. Known for her black drawings, Griffiths’ work is influenced by the spatial representation of architecture.

Pipilotti Rist: Stay Stamina Stay, Hauser & Wirth Somerset, Bruton
A pioneer of video art since the mid-1980s, Pipilotti Rist’s film installations take many guises. Hauser & Wirth Somerset presents new work made in response to a recent sabbatical in Bruton. Also on show is the 2011 installation Hiplights – an outdoor light work spanning the site of this former farm, created from hundreds of pairs of underpants illuminated with LED lamps.
