Sun Xun, Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art, Manchester
This solo exhibition by the young, Beijing-based Chinese artist Sun Xun features the UK debut of his animation, What happened in the year of the dragon. Known for his black and white animated films, also on show are a selection of his previous animation and video works which depict world history as well as revealing a critical and political awareness of China.

The artist-led group Turf Projects explores how digital wireless technology effects how we understand the movement of images today. This exhibition features a range of artists including Sophie Jung, Will Kendrick, Yuki Kishino and Matt Pearson.

Throughout 2015 London’s ICA is presenting 50 weekly exhibitions in its studio space. Artists are only announced just before their show opens, with Scottish artist Charles Avery featuring this week. His project unites two and three dimensional forms through drawings, film and sculpture.

Jesse Wine, BALTIC, Gateshead
London-based artist Jesse Wine works mainly with ceramics and uses traditional techniques to explore process and chance. The results include lopsided vessels with shiny metallic glazes and self-portrait heads sporting a variation of contemporary accessories, belts and bobble hats.

Darren Banks’ practice examines the relationship between objects and film. This new installation explores his family connection to the sculptor, sheep farmer and horror movie actor Churton Fairman – better known by his alias Mike Raven.
