Parasol Unit presents painter Katy Moran’s first major solo exhibition in a London gallery, featuring paintings produced over the last 10 years. Although her gestural and evocative work appears abstract, it is rooted in the figurative.

Grace Schwindt, Site Gallery, Sheffield
This exhibition from London-based German artist Grace Schwindt features the feature-length film installation, Only a Free Individual Can Create a Free Society. Co-commissioned by FLAMIN Productions and Site Gallery – amongst others – the work examines the radical left-wing politics of Germany in the 1960s and ’70s.

WG Collingwood, Abbot Hall Gallery, Kendall
Lakeland Arts has amassed hundreds of watercolours by the artist and writer WG Collingwood. At one-time secretary to John Ruskin, Collingwood travelled extensively, sketching as he went. Here Abbot Hall Gallery presents some of the highlights.

The Two Roberts, Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh
This major exhibition explores the work of Scottish artists Robert MacBryde and Robert Colquhoun, who rose to art-world fame in the 1940s only to die in obscurity 20 years later. The latter specialised in figure painting, with MacBryde known for his still-lifes.
