A week of discussion and events focusing on Scotland’s forthcoming independence referendum, and including an evening hosted by the Scottish Artists Union, is taking place in Glasgow from Monday 23 to Friday 27 June.
Presented by city centre bar Stereo, all events are free and, say the organisers, “geared towards gathering information, ideas and opinions about Scotland’s referendum, and helping everyone work towards making an informed choice about Scotland’s future in September.” The country votes yes or no to independence on 18 September.
Throughout the week from 12.30-2pm, The Old Hairdressers on Renfield Lane – over the road from Stereo – becomes the drop-in Referendum Cafe, providing a space to discuss referendum-related issues. Taking place at the same time, Stereo itself will be hosting the Referendum Library, gathering together literature and creative writing that deals with the debate around Scottish independence.
The week also includes three evening events, including on Wednesday (6-7.30pm) an ‘independence discussion forum’ presented by the Scottish Artists Union. With representatives from both the Yes and No camps, the event is billed as ‘an opportunity to ask questions about the upcoming independence referendum and how it could affect the arts in Scotland’.
