On February 19, a public vote was opened to pair ten contemporary artists with venues across the UK for Museums at Night 2013.
Jake and Dinos Chapman, Mat Collishaw, Martin Creed, Cullinan and Richards, Susan Forsyth, rAndom International, Gavin Turk, Julia Vogl, Richard Wentworth and Julian Wild will be leading participatory events as part of the late-night festival in May.
Over 30,000 members of the public voted to ‘win’ one of the artist events for their city, which resulted in a close contest for several of the participants.
Events include the Chapman brothers at the Jerwood Gallery in Hastings, who will be hosting both day and night-time events; Richard Wentworth, who is leading a multi-venue event in Manchester involving a cabinet of curiosities; Gavin Turk’s ‘magic carpet experience’ at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery; and a talk by Martin Creed at the Freud Museum in London.
