Whoops!

This blog post seems to have become detached from it's parent blog!

This is a digital work I made on Wednesday. Seeing Hertz was originally a sculpture I made in 2015. I photoshopped a face covering over the mouth and nose of the skull to comment on the present time.

On the surface, the skull with the face covering isn’t related to the work this semester. I simply made this work on a whim on Wednesday. However I do believe that it determines the direction I want to go in with the work I’ve done in the term – as in the direction of the non rational. It’s indicative of surrealism because of the irrational juxtaposition of the skull and the electrical wires coming out of the eye sockets. The forms on Illustrator are drawn are similar to automatic drawings, a surrealist technique developed to engage with the unconscious. This is because I also drew them on a whim.
