Looking back at the work I’ve done in the previous semester, I found it hard to connect to it. Comparing it with the work I used to do, it’s different in terms of the type of work. The artworks I’ve done before starting MA (<2018) was referring to some aspect of reality, whereas the work since the start of MA is more compositional. I think having a job has affected my artworks, as a result of not knowing what kind of artist I am anymore due to obligations outside of art. Putting the toothpaste plans from last semester aside, I think it’s a good idea to start from the basics of sketching / drawing ideas using the artworks I used to do as a template, and then go from there.
