The more emotional baggage i put into my work, the more it means more to me when i look at them.

Embedding autobiographic content is a good strategy for me artistically, but also as a method to vent, which in turn creates something i feel is more authentic.

The greyscale works well with the mood i’m trying to convey, it’s like a decay of memories that’s altered because of the tentacle-like structure. I’m going to be building a mood board on Pinterest, drawing from things that physically look like the structures. However I’m more inclined to look into fiction from pop culture as they’re expressions of a collective unconscious rather than natural occurrences. I’m using this approach to research into a sort of cultural creativity.

I like the idea of the tentacles being like dementors, a visual analogy of depression, where JK Rowling depicts the figures as taking the happiness away.

There is something interesting about the mirrors in the work. The mirrors reflect the present moment, whereas the content of the print is the past.
