Eleanor Havsteen-Franklin
Eleanor Havsteen-Franklin’s creative practice focuses on visually embodying the interwoven relationship between botanical and biological forms, in order to reflect on the fragility and resilience of ecosystems and human life. She was born in Denmark, and moved to the UK in 1994, completing her BA Fine Art with Psychology at Chester University (1997). Following this she trained as an Art Therapist at University of Hertfordshire (1999). In 2007 she finished her MA in Printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts, London (UAL). Since her MA in Printmaking she has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad. Solo exhibitions include Gyldendal Publishing House – Copenhagen (2019); De Queeste Art in Belgium (2018); ‘Sammenfiltret’ - Copenhagen (2016), ‘Corpus’ Pushing Print - Margate (2013) and Watford Museum (2012). Prizes include 1st prize ‘Solo Show’ at ‘Pushing Print’ - Margate, East London Print Studio Award (2012), Eastern Approaches (2012 & 13) and Eastern Open (2009).

Autumn 2021: ‘Health and the Climate & Ecological Emergency’ at University College Hospital London; ‘Ecologies of Change’ with Printmakers Council at ROSL and Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, London.
Collaborations include a publication with the Danish poet Thofner in 2016, and with Dr. Torode, whose plant research inspired her work for the Cambridge Science festival in 2018. She has been awarded three AA2A residencies, combining 2013-14 with a residency at Butterfly World Project. In 2019 she curated the exhibition ‘The Poetics of Otherness’ at the Pratt Institute, New York. She is currently collaborating with the scientist Dr Schornack and his research on Fungi and mycorrhizal processes at Sainsbury Laboratory Cambridge University.
