Experience
(Oct 2015 - present) Learning and Participation Officer, The Customs House
The Learning and Participation (L&P) team engage and inspire children & young people with the arts. Responsibilities include:
• Writing bids and working with funders including project management and reporting.
• Programming the L&P team’s schools' Arts Award offer. Enhancing family learning opportunities by establishing Mini Makers and The Treasure Group increasing quality and depth of provision including ‘Go and See’ visits for care experiences children. The Takeover annual youth arts festival providing young people with opportunities to programme, see & take part in a wide range of arts including The Terry Kelly Poetry Prize.
• Arts Award (AA) Strategic Leads on behalf of Culture Bridge North East. Working with CBNE delivering regional AA Support Programme with Deputy Director. (AA Conference 2016 & 2017; Peer Mentoring; Discover in a Day Pilot; #MyArtsAward Week; Transitions; First Steps and Navigating Young People). This phase focuses on action research about ensuring AA good practice develops in educational & cultural settings.
• Supporting wider activities of L&P team and The Customs House e.g. Supporting writing The Customs House NPO bid for 2018; Jnr Youth Theatre Performances; 25th Anniversary celebration activities & events.

(Aug 2014- Oct 2015) Assistant Learning Officer Shipley Art Gallery Gateshead & Laing Art Galley Newcastle
Post focused on learning and engagement with schools, colleges, families and teachers. I developed, delivered and evaluated high quality learning experiences inspired by the collections and exhibitions.
Highlights included: Delivering Learning strand of Acts of Making project with The Crafts Council at The Shipley; Managing The Shipley Art Gallery Juice Festival Project in 2014 and 2015; Developing local school partnerships.

Duties included: Leading tours for audiences from general visitors, school children to other arts professionals; Staffing the information desk providing assistance to visitors; Working with the Research & Evaluation group.
Highlights included: Four month secondment covering Development Assistant post (Jan 2014-April 2014); Turner Prize 2011 Education Tours; Development tours for the Norwegian Embassy and funders including Paul Hamlyn Foundation; Developing and organising BALTIC staff Editions Project; showcasing BALTICs work for our nomination for the National Lottery Good Causes Campaign on BBC and NE Tourism Awards.

Working with partner organisations, including galleries and councils, to successfully plan, deliver and evaluate arts education projects and workshops. Highlights include programming and delivering children's' Saturday workshops for The Customs House for 1 year; holiday arts activities in Whitley Bay for North Tyneside Council and art workshops at the Wallsend Festival.
