Jamie McCartney portrait in his studio
I’m a full-time artist with over 30 years experience. I have a multidisciplinary and often experimental approach. My personal work often has a strong sociopolitical purpose such as women’s rights, conflict, mental health, the environment etc. I embrace new media and enjoy collaborating with other artists, technicians, scientists, social enterprises and the public. My commercial work is largely based on the body, using sculpture and photography. My most recognised work is The Great Wall of Vagina (now Vulva). Exhibited in museums in Milan, Lisbon and Miami and several commercial galleries, it has kept me constantly in the international press since 2008. I have been self-representing since the closure of The Kaleidoscope and Hay Hill galleries in London, whom I was with for many years. Manningtree
