Leanne Mawer

I am really inspired by the duality of raw and sincere elements juxtaposed with manufactured, mass produced materials. I am a crafts person at heart and love the process of working with natural materials such as wood, stone and clay. My inspiration comes from simple things that are not always noticed by others; the rusty nails left in an old gate post, the discarded sheet of corrugated iron that has been reclaimed by the land, and the effect the weather has upon these things. It is this duality that I use to create pieces that contain a crafted but contemporary feel.
