Lee Gascoyne
I’m a contemporary painter and sculptor using traditional art materials in unexpected and quirky ways. My processes are very considered and multilayered, but I also incorporate and allow mistakes of the hand to influence them. I love to transform objects, people and spaces that interest me into the world of 2 dimensions through painting, drawing and photography, as well as play with the reversal of this when making sculpture. Inner stillness and visual perception play important roles in my work, as does the awareness of the artist to observer relationship. I am also interested in the dynamic between personal reflection and the metaphor of physical reflections in mirrors and surfaces.
