Maya Smith

As an Israeli woman living in the west I make work that relates to this. I use my experiences and opinions of people both here and in the Middle East to depict ideas through my work. I like to question people's opinions, tends to be politically focused or concerning an issue such as religion or gender roles and stereotypes . I work in mixed media creating two dimensional collages that incorporate different techniques of drawing and collage. I like using figurative drawings and paintings combined with abstract drawing techniques, symbols and motifs, also I like stitch and embroidery in my work.
