A now historical document that resonates given the changes in art education that followed the closure of various New Labour arts education programmes, and in a context of 9000 fewer secondary school arts teachers since 2011. AIR expresses concern for the diversity of the sector after the introduction of £9000 p.a fees for university courses; the effect on “thinking, making and crafting skills”; and the impact on artists’ ability to earn a living via portfolio careers that have often involved teaching.
