Significant articulate paper written from a non-white perspective questioning diversity policy, in particular Arts Council England’s ‘Decibel’ initiative. Argues effectively that initiatives of this type may unintentionally ghettoise BME artists, and are patronising. “Cultural institutions should be working with and engaging these people as individuals, who are judged on their merits rather than ticking ethnic boxes and funding by target.”
