Finds that to further deepen their reach and impact, the national museums should work more closely together to better coordinate their initiatives. Emphasises the institutions’ strengths – three of them are most visited museums in the world and seven are most visited attractions in England. Over half of national museum sites are outside London; half have a presence outside of London, including one museum wholly outside London and two primarily outside London. Affirms that DCMS should continue but makes a number of recommendations intended to strengthen their practice. Should be read in conjunction with The Mendoza review.
