Research aimed to inform programme of work to progress the legacy of decibel, ACE’s cultural diversity programme. Acknowledges arguments that contest effectiveness of cultural diversity provision and questions validity of labelling artists in ethnic specific terms. Notes that Asian, African and Caribbean artists felt their work is ghettoised and they face barriers accessing mainstream art world. Suggests that existing arts infrastructure must broaden its horizons and be more receptive to a wider cultural framework, with recommendations.
