Written in 2012 at a time when the UK Coalition Government was swinging towards ‘back to basics’ approaches to education. Explores complex themes at the heart of well-being and raises questions around what the future purpose of education ought to be. Suggests that helping to develop future generations of flexible thinkers, who are resilient in the face of challenges, and can marshal a repertoire of skills and knowledge, then the learner’s sense of well-being will be key.
