I found what I'd read about in a printed program weeks before and sped through a first look round on a busy day last week so those animated and networked works were barely registering on that skim read. There were no other viewers and I left with the double-sided printout from one of the perspex dispensers.
I am informed that scatterprojects.org collaborated with Kirklees Media Centre and Huddersfield University. 'Scatter…explore new methods of working through live projects'. Works selected for If Elsewhere are investigating among other things the public and private, how notions of these are changing and distorting.
The still imagery then. PostSecrets was fun, mixed-mindful. I favour the postcard with 'Nothing is Forever' for its irony and ambivalence. Viva eternal! I love the visual and literal aspects of writing and the bled montage and superimposing above the image content there. Good content only builds on formal qualites.
Levon Biss is credited with individually framed colour photographs. I favour the one with the brutalist estate as a backdrop to the fight for the ball with that sharp shadow on the tarmac. The love of travel over this great firey ball gets me waxing. Action! Lights! Energy security. Secured?
Town had a John Davies! How old is that print and that most excellent aperture in wood and glass?
How come discussion is marginalised by an alienating, ill-mannered obsession with debate, critcal or otherwise?
The media loungue has since regressed to the perspex dispensers for the tenants renting offices. Every visual art is so Treasury-undermined in this derelict Beacon Status municipality. So much for joined up government.
