The Devon Guild’s new exhibition: In Tandem is collaborative and presents two very different media: wood and ceramics. Makers Terry Sawle and Blandine Anderson have not worked together in this capacity before and have produced pieces that challenge traditional ideas of domestic function and design.
Fusions of wood and stoneware in the work here remind Andy Christian, (critic) of twisted oaks in Wistmans Wood: ‘Rock and root interlock in obdurate embrace’.
Anderson herself says: ‘This exhibition asks “Is it furniture or is it sculpture?” – but why can it not be both?’
